Players will each be given a fleet of three ships and a 'Trip Log' describing the ports they will need to obtain cargo from and deliver to as well as their start position. The players will then navigate the dangerous waters of the Great lakes by rolling a D6 die to move and drawing and completing the text on a 'Log Entry' event cards when they land on these spaces. Additionally players will have to deal with Ports, Canals, and Occupied Spaces, all of which may impede their progress.
Once the player's vessel finishes the tasks from the 'Trip Log' it remains on the board at it's final port and the player selects a another 'Trip Log' to repeat this process with their second ship. The first player to complete a three of their ships with this process will have won the game and proven themselves capable of being 'Captain of the Fleet'.
